Trademark Butler

How it works

Email in. Briefing out. A human approves. We send.

The whole service is designed around one idea: you should spend as little time and attention on your trademark as possible, and still get agent-quality work with every deadline handled.

  1. 01

You email us (or use the form)

Describe what you are protecting, or forward the CIPO letter you received. There is no intake portal to fight with and no jargon required. Attach what you have; we will ask for anything missing.

    Your effort
    Two minutes.
    Our turnaround
We acknowledge the same business day.
  2. 02

    Our team builds a briefing

We pull the CIPO file if there is one, check the register, review your goods and services, and assemble a short briefing: what the situation is, what the options are, and what we recommend.

    Your effort
    Nothing.
    Our turnaround
    Typically within one business day.
  3. 03

    A human reviews and approves

Every briefing, every recommendation and every draft is reviewed by our team before it reaches you. Substantive trademark judgment stays with people, full stop. You get a plain-English plan with a fixed-fee quote.

    Your effort
    Read a short email.
    Our turnaround
    Reviewed before it is sent.
  4. 04

    You approve, we send

Reply yes to the plan. We prepare and file with CIPO, appoint ourselves as your agent where relevant, and docket every deadline on the file. You receive confirmation and a note on what happens next.

    Your effort
    One reply.
    Our turnaround
    Filed, confirmed, tracked.

Our promises

What you can hold us to

These are the rules our team works by on every file, whether it is a single Watch plan or a complex Examiner's Report.

  • A person reviews every recommendation before you see it
  • Nothing is filed with CIPO without your approval
  • Fees are confirmed in writing before work begins
  • Government fees are passed through at cost, always itemized
  • Deadlines on your file are tracked and you are warned ahead
  • Accurate about risks and deadlines, never scare tactics
  • We reply to your enquiry and do not add you to marketing lists
  • If you do not need us yet, we tell you

FAQ

The questions behind the questions

Who actually does the work?
Trademark Butler is operated with EWR Trademark & Corporate Services, an established Canadian trademark and corporate services practice. Our team prepares and reviews every file. We use modern tooling to move quickly on research, drafting and status updates, but recommendations and filings are always approved by a person.
Is this a law firm?
We are a trademark agent practice. Registered trademark agents are licensed in Canada to represent applicants before CIPO. Where a matter needs a lawyer, for instance litigation, we tell you and can refer or co-ordinate.
How do fees work?
Every offer is quoted as a fixed professional fee. Your quote confirms the exact fee for your situation before any work begins, and separately lists government (CIPO) fees, which are passed through at cost. There is no hourly billing on packaged work.
Will you email me marketing?
No. When you contact us we reply to your enquiry and nothing else. We do not add you to a list, and any follow-up about your matter is just that: about your matter.
How fast is fast?
Plans and quotes typically go out within one business day. Filings usually happen within a few business days of your approval. Examiner's Report responses are scheduled around your CIPO deadline with margin to spare. CIPO's own processing times are outside anyone's control, and we will tell you what to expect.
What if you think I do not need you?
We say so. Some Examiner's Reports can be handled with a one-line amendment you can file yourself. Some names should not be filed at all yet. Telling you the truth costs us a sale occasionally and earns us the next one.

Ready when you are. One email starts it.

Tell us what you are protecting or forward the CIPO letter. You will have a written plan and a fixed-fee quote within one business day.
